Modeling Dynamic Transport Network with Matrix Factor Models: an Application to International Trade Flow

چکیده
International trade research plays an important role to inform policy and shed light on wider economic issues. With recent advances in information technology, agencies distribute enormous amount of internationally comparable trading data, providing a gold mine for empirical analysis international trade. data can be viewed as dynamic transport network because it emphasizes the goods moving across edges. Most literature concentrates parametric modeling connectivity that focuses link formation or deformation rather than network. We take different non-parametric perspective from pervasive node-and-edge-level modeling: is modeled time series relational matrices; variants matrix factor model Wang et al. Dynamic Three-Factor Models of International Trade
Based on the Jones (1971) model, we construct two dynamic models of international trade in which the rate of time preference is either constant or time-varying. The main purpose is to study whether and under what conditions the results derived from the Jones model still hold in the dynamic framework. It is shown that the results of dynamic models may be similar or different to those obtained in...
متن کاملModeling Dynamic Production Systems with Network Structure
This paper deals with the problem of optimizing two-stage structure decision making units (DMUs) where the activity and the performance of two-stage DMU in one period effect on its efficiency in the next period. To evaluate such systems the effect of activities in one period on ones in the next term must be considered. To do so, we propose a dynamic DEA approach to measure the performance of su...
متن کاملEnumeration of Dominant Solutions: An Application in Transport Network Design
A One-Dimensional Binary Integer Programming Problem (1DB-IPP) is concerned with selecting a subset from a set of k items in budget constraint to optimize an objective function. In this problem a dominant solution is defined as a feasible selection to which no further item could be added in budget constraint. This paper presents a simple algorithm for Enumeration of Dominant Solutions (EDS) and...
متن کاملFunctional Dynamic Factor Models with Application to Yield Curve Forecasting
Accurate forecasting of zero coupon bond yields for a continuum of maturities is paramount to bond portfolio management and derivative security pricing. Yet a universal model for yield curve forecasting has been elusive, and prior attempts often resulted in a trade-off between goodness of fit and consistency with economic theory. To address this, herein we propose a novel formulation which conn...
متن کاملModeling Day-to-day Flow Dynamics on Degradable Transport Network
Stochastic link capacity degradations are common phenomena in transport network which can cause travel time variations and further can affect travelers' daily route choice behaviors. This paper formulates a deterministic dynamic model, to capture the day-to-day (DTD) flow evolution process in the presence of degraded link capacity degradations. The aggregated network flow dynamics are driven by...
